The National Groodle Association is now focused on Groodle breed ecognition

The National Groodle Association (NGA) has refocused its mission: achieving formal breed recognition for the Groodle in Australia. After several years supporting education for dog breeders across all breeds, the Association is channelling its volunteer resources into the research, breed standard development, and advocacy required for the Groodle to be recognised as an established breed.

The NGA's work will now centre on:

Developing a Groodle breed standard
Pedigree and health data collection
Advocacy and education specific to the Groodle

BreedaCon 2027 takes place on the Gold Coast, Queensland, from 30 April to 2 May 2027, and brings together internationally recognised speakers across canine reproduction, genetics, puppy rearing, and breeder business education including Jane Messineo Lindquist, creator of Puppy Culture. The three-day program features hands-on workshops, a dedicated Breeding Science and Health Day, and a full Puppy Culture day.

What is Groodle breed recognition?

Breed recognition is the formal process of having a breed acknowledged as a breed in development by canine registry bodies - For us its Dogs Queensland. It requires a documented breed standard, multi-generational pedigree records, and evidence of consistent type and temperament.

The National Groodle Association Inc (NGA) was developed following an identified need to improve the way Groodles are bred in Australia.

Our association was founded by passionate volunteer breeders from across Australia who although at various stages of their breeding journey, had identified a critical need to establish breed standards, educate and support truly responsible, ethical and transparent breeding practice.

We hope that by doing this, we can create a more transparent puppy buying experience for families who are not just committed to supporting ethical breeding practice, but are also keen to support us on our journey Improve the way we breed Groodles.

All committee members are volunteers and all income generated through membership, sponsorship and events is put back into our not for profit to help provide provide breeder education.

A focus on health testing

Ethical and responsible breeding practice starts with health testing every breeding dog. As a minimum standard, all litters recommended by the National Groodle Association are required to DNA test and Hip and Elbow score their breeding dogs.
